Fuzzi Bunz Care and Washing Instructions

WASHING...In a nutshell:

Cold Soak
Hot Wash
Tumble Dry Low/Medium

Wash your Fuzzi Bunz BEFORE using and AFTER trying them on your baby for fit.   Fuzzi Bunz must be washed after each use. Use a laundry basket, or diaper pail to store dirty Fuzzi Bunz and diapers until wash day.   Some prefer to soak dirty diapers in a wet pail.   **If you decide to do this your water should be changed daily.**

When removing a dirty FB from your baby, shake or knock any SOLID bowel movement from the FB.   You can rinse any residing BM off the cover if you would like, but this is not necessary as it will disolve and be spun out of the wash.   Pull the prefold or insert from the FB before storing.   They can all be washed together.

On wash day, run the dirty FB and diapers in a cold soak or prewash.   This will get out all of the mess that traditional soaking and dunking would have removed.   Let that 20 Century washer do the work!!   If you do not have a soak cycle, run them through a rinse cycle.   If you have already soaked your diapers in a pail, spin out any remaining dirty water.

Wash your diapers in HOT water with a moderate amount of detergent (1/4 - 1/2 of the recommended dose).   Over dosing on detergent produces build up and is the single most common cause of leaking problems.

Use ONLY regular detergent. No pure soap products or mild detergents such as Dreft or Ivory Snow.   Also, no bleach, softeners, or whitening agents.   Fuzzi Bunz do not stain so you do not need all of those extra chemicals.  We recommend using Allens' Naturally Detergent to wash your Fuzzi Bunz.   But any store bought detergent will work fine to wash diapers in.   See paragraph below on detergents if questionable.

An additional rinse can be used for particularly soiled loads.   Make sure that your diapers are rinsed clean.   Any residue from poop, urine, detergent or vinegar can make your diapers stink!

If using Allen's Naturally your diapers should have NO smell when removed from the dryer or the line.

FB should not stain.   Some diaper rash ointments will stain and care should be taken when using such products if you want your FB to stay nice and stain free.   However, Fuzzi Bunz do NOT CAUSE DIAPER RASH so you do not need these ointments with them.

   Do's and Don'ts

Do wash your Fuzzi Bunz after each use.
Do make sure that there is a snug fit
Do make sure that you have the correct size for your baby.
Do try to keep your Fuzzi Bunz separate from other Velcro covers you may have.   This may wear on the fibers.
Do contact the manufacturer if you have any problems.
Do not use fabric softener or use pure soap products on your Fuzzi Bunz.
Do not use mild detergents or softeners.
Do not use bleach or expose to high heat for prolonged periods of time.
Do not overuse detergent - only a little is needed to get the job done.

A word about "natural" cleaning agents

As noted above, you can not use pure "soap" products on your Fuzzi Bunz because of the coating that they leave.   Many "natural" detergents will do the same.   We can not name them all because they are numerous but if you buy it in a health food store or have to order it from the internet you can probably group it in this category.   Now this is not saying it will not work, if it does that is wonderful - keep using it.   If you are using the "natural" cleaning agent and you are having leaking problems you have found your culprit. The problem can be fixed, however.
